ICNM News: Kim Archer

The composer Kim Archer was commissioned a grade 3 band piece. Kim Archer is presently completing her Doctorate in Composition at the University of Texas (Austin) and has studied with Donald Grantham and Daniel Welcher.

Ms. Archer completed a residency at Central Michigan University from February 19-21, 2003. She lectured to their composition students and worked with the Grand Ledge High School Wind Ensemble on the morning of February 21. In the afternoon of the same day, the Grand Ledge High School Wind Ensemble premiered her commissioned work, "Prelude". The ensemble was conducted by Michael Kaufman. It was one of three bands performing on that day as part of the annual Concert Band Symposium.

C. Alan Publications published Kim's composition.
